On June 11, 2024, Crypto Lala, a user and operations manager of Crypto reported that an unknown hacker removed $11.6 million worth of crypto assets from her institutional OKX account within 25 minutes.
QuantMatter’s operations manager also confirmed that no email or 2FA notification regarding this transaction was received on her device.
She expressed her shock and disbelief after seeing numerous posts from @okx and @okxchinese users about similar incidents, but never expecting to become a victim herself. She also emphasized the need to speak out to prevent potential victims from realizing that they are not alone in this situation.
So far, a previous investigation has revealed that the hacker allegedly gained full access to the account, sold everything for ETH, and withdrew all the funds within 25 minutes. The user noticed the theft when he checked one of the sub-accounts and discovered that the main account was completely empty. Even though I had been in the crypto world for a long time, this was the first bitter experience.
Overwhelmed with frustration and sadness, the user plans to contact the major Crypto media outlets to share their story and raise awareness. She also encouraged other victims to join her and discuss their losses to coordinate joint efforts to tackle the problem. The incident highlights the vulnerability of OKX users and urges the community to take action to prevent further thefts.
