Apple Pay is coming to MetaMask! (Allows users to buy crypto with a single click)

TL;DR

  • Compared to other browser wallets, mobile wallets, or really any type of Web3 wallet, MetaMask has always been one of the least intuitive to use.

  • The good news is that they just partnered with crypto on-ramp/off-ramp company, Banxato enable users to buy Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies in 1 click, with Apple Pay (!!!)

  • This removal of friction brings us one step closer to being able to tell our parents:

“Download this app, sign in with your email and password, and click the big ‘Buy’ button. That is it. Now you have custody of your own crypto.”

Meta Mask is the best!

… except when it comes to the user interface, in which case: MetaMask is the worst!

Compared to other browser wallets, mobile wallets, or really any type of Web3 wallet, MetaMask has always been one of the least intuitive to use.

That’s a problem, because it’s the world’s most used Ethereum wallet – with over 30 million active users.

The good news is: the team at MetaMask is working to iron out the kinks.

They just partnered with a crypto on-ramp/off-ramp company, Banxato enable users to buy Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies in 1 click, with Apple Pay (!!!)

That means click, smile, please, you are now a crypto holder.

That’s even something Kevin (our trainee) could understand it.

And he’s an idiot!

When it comes to buying crypto via Metamaskis the critical (and often the most terrifying) step in converting your real-world funds into digital currencies.

It often takes a number of confusing steps, enough to scare off the non-tech-savvy crowd.

This removal of friction brings us one step closer to being able to tell our parents:

“Download this app, sign in with your email and password, and click the big ‘Buy’ button. That is it. Now you have custody of your own crypto.”

(Which is currently only possible on centralized apps like PayPal and Venmo – where the platforms themselves hold the crypto on behalf of the users).

… but all this is not without its drawbacks.

This new integration only works for users who already have an account with Banxa and who have already shared their ID with the platform.

So that first experience still gets awkward!

…but for the second, third and fourth you can trade crypto without thinking twice.

And who doesn’t like a little mindless spending?
