It’s almost time for the Boss Fighters Alpha tournament! And while you don’t need an Alpha Pass to participate, the passes offer other benefits, including exclusive skins that are only available during this Alpha phase!
Who’s ready to beat the boss in the Arena? Or who is ready are the boss? You’ll get your chance soon, as Boss Fighters plans to stay open all weekend for the next three weekends as part of their Alpha Community Tournament!
With different goals and rewards each week, there are plenty of opportunities to earn your share! Each week, ten Fighters and ten Boss players will receive cash rewards, via Open Loot or Paypal. The size of the reward pool depends on the number of Alpha Passes sold, but we’re told the pool starts at $950.
Boss Fighters will maintain its servers from Friday 7PM EST to Sunday 10PM EST, with the first weekend starting on August 25.
Alpha passes
Players do not need a Pass to participate in the tournament. You can also access it by holding down a Rowdie skin (bottom price of $50). But owning an Alpha Pass offers additional benefits.
Fighter Alpha Passes come in three rarities: Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each of them functions as a battle pass during the alpha, allowing players to level up during gameplay and receive rewards. Two of those rewards are exclusive NFT, alpha skins, one character and one weapon. The rarity of these skins will be based on the rarity of the pass. Plus, all character skins are generative, meaning they’re all unique!
Alpha Passes went on sale today (August 24) and will remain on sale through August 26, or until they sell out, whichever comes first. Some players may also receive a free pass from recent giveaways. These should appear on your Boss Fighters account shortly.
Anyone interested in picking up an Alpha Pass can do so Open loot (note this requires KYC in some areas but not others). They released the passes in batches and are currently about halfway through their total offering of 500. Rare Alpha Passes cost $15, Epic $60, and Legendary $100.
The passes available on Open Loot are for Fighter players. VR/Boss players have their own pass, which is actually free! To receive a Boss player pass, you must contact the team and be ready to prove you are an active VR player.
What is Boss Fighters?
Boss Fighters is an asynchronous arena combat game where a team of players compete against another player as The Boss – a giant enemy who can smash buildings, shoot lasers, and even rip and throw the giant hot dog off the top of the restaurant. it to the puny humans! The Fighter players have guns, missiles, grappling hooks, sticky bombs and other weapon and equipment options to aid in their fight against the Boss.
Boss Fighters are free to play. And those who have no interest in blockchain or NFTs can still play and earn in-game rewards. Boss Fighters contain digital assets and NFTs, but these are cosmetic only and do not affect gameplay. The game will progress in seasons. During each season, players gain experience as they play, allowing them to unlock new gear, cosmetics, and upgrades. All of these rewards clear between seasons, but players have the option to spend in-game currency to store certain items in an NFT. Since the Boss players are the heart of the game, they will see higher rewards for participating in the game. This includes bonuses for playing regularly.
The first character skin NFTs, known as the Rowdies collection, are available on the Solana network. However, the team recently announced a new partnership with Open Loot and the NFTs can now be transferred to Polygon.
Boss Fighters wants to bring a game show feel to their game and encourages streaming. They want to build an eSport that is a fun event for players and viewers. The Boss Fighters team is already thinking of ways to encourage and reward viewers and audience participation.
Boss Fighters will also feature player-created content such as custom maps in the future. Hopefully this will be expanded with Boss creation!
