Ever since AI emerged as the technology industry’s new darling, companies and projects have been scrambling to fit it into their existing infrastructure. With this in mind, Decentraland has come up with a new idea to seamlessly integrate AI into its virtual world and breathe new life into the Metaverse.
Because of the massive association of everything blockchain related to one big boiling pot of trepidation, such as platforms Decentralized can find themselves a bit lifeless in times of market instability, even when the Metaverse as a whole should be detached from the unstable machinations of cryptocurrencies.
So to add a bit of soul to its virtual platform, Decentraland has partnered with the ambitious AI start-up, In the world. A self-described “ChatGPT on steroids” that allows users to create different AI personalities by attributing backstory, contextual information, motivation, dialogue style, and more to a virtual character. After that, Inworld will give life to that character through the power of AI, allowing them to interact with humans in a realistic and fluid way.
Decentraland kicks off its AI journey with three virtual characters
To begin his new AI adventure, Decentraland has deployed 3 characters in his Genesis Plazas region. Each with its own distinct personality traits, history and dialogue style. As a result, visitors can interact with Simone the Robot, an expert in all things Metaverse, Doge, who candidly discusses life’s trivialities, and Aisha, a light-hearted skater girl with a positive outlook on the world.
Later, Decentraland suggested that AI-powered non-player characters (NPCs) be rolled out to pack owners. For now, though, they can reach Inworld and build their own AI-driven persona from there!
