Although Worldshards is only in early access, it has already implemented the ability for players to find tradable NFTs in the game. But with a possible game wipe on the horizon, NFT holders needn’t worry, as any NFTs found will be theirs to keep!
Right now, there’s no massive multiplayer in this Web3-compatible fantasy MMORPG. But we’re only in the early stages of early access. And while multiplayer options aren’t available yet, Worldshards already has a highly playable single-player game. To participate in the Early Access Playtest, you must own a land NFT or have an access key.
Worldshards follows the Big Time model. Players venture into certain areas, battle enemy monsters, collect resources, and sometimes complete special missions or puzzles along the way. These raw materials are then used for crafting and building. Players can build workstations on their private property, allowing them to craft more powerful items.
Players will adventure, craft items, build houses, place crafting stations, and craft better items so they can go on tougher adventures for even better loot – and maybe even NFTs!
NFTs in Worldshards
Right now, finding NFTs is random. They can come as drops after harvesting or defeating an enemy. These NFTs are blueprints for decorative items that you can place in your base at no cost. Decorative NFTs increase comfort levels, allowing the construction of more uncomfortable things such as workshops and refining stations. In a future update, players will also be able to trade and sell these blueprints.
Owning an Island NFT is not required to participate in the game. But the Island NFTs do offer more space for building your custom base, which means more room for workshop upgrades, which means greater potential for producing valuable and rare items. Once multiplayer is released, players will also be able to use their islands as social hubs for guilds and friends. Additionally, there will likely be land rental options through Open Loot.

What is World Shards?
Worldshards is a sandbox, fantasy, MMO game that will include both a web2 and a web3 compatible version. Divided into a number of floating islands, the world of Murlandia sees players not only battling monsters and developing skills, but sometimes solving puzzles or coming up with ways to peacefully resolve situations to complete quests.
