Google's Gemini AI helps Brits with stress-free holiday packing

As the school holidays approach, many Brits are feeling the stress of packing for their trip. According to a recent Censuswide survey, packing is a significant pain point, with almost a third (32%) of Brits taking time off work to pack and over a quarter (28%) describing the task as seriously anxiety-inducing.

AI assistance with packing

To alleviate this stress, Google has introduced Gemini, an AI assistant designed to help with packing. Gemini is available on both Android and iOS and can create a personalized packing list based on the data provided by the user. The same survey found that almost a quarter (23%) of Brits tend to overpack, a problem Gemini aims to solve by streamlining the packing process to include only the essentials.

How Gemini works

Users can enter their destination, airline and travel dates into Gemini. The AI then generates a packing list tailored to the weather, baggage allowance and planned activities. For example, a user might ask, ‘What should I pack for a two-week trip to Bodrum, flying economy on a budget airline? I must fit my clothes, including swimwear, going out tops and my liquids in my carry-on luggage to avoid extra charges.”

Gemini can provide tips for packing light and specify a list of necessary clothes and other items. In addition, Google has launched the ‘Gemini Packing Squad’ in the UK, a team of packing experts who will travel across the country to help people use Gemini for their holiday preparations.

Streamline holiday preparation

With the help of Gemini, vacationers can focus more on the fun aspects of their travel plans rather than the stress of packing. The AI tool can be accessed via the Gemini app on Android or via the Google app on iOS. More information can be found at the official Google blog.
