Heroes of Mavia launch DAO / Building on Base

User Avatar

This past month, Heroes of Mavia went live, ran a play-to-airdrop campaign, and launched their token, MAVIA. But they don’t stop there! Now they’re announcing plans to use Base as their blockchain of choice, and putting their player DAO into action, already putting the first proposal up for a vote!

Heroes of Mavia seems to have had a great launch, with a lot of attention being paid to their game and tokens being distributed to over 50,000 wallets via their airdrop! And between iOS and Android devices, Mavia sees more than 300,000 active players every day. That’s pretty important!

Mavia on base

Heroes of Mavia recently announced that they have chosen Base as their Layer2 network for their game. This blockchain network built by Coinbase has been gaining popularity since its launch. Mavia wants to take advantage of the low gas costs and integrations, while also potentially exposing their game to Coinbase users who may not be heavily involved in the web3 gaming scene.

With Mavia’s active player numbers and Coinbase’s reputation, this seems like a win-win for everyone involved. For now, we only have the basic announcement. We should learn more about what this means for Mavia players in future posts.

Mavia DAO

The Mavia player DAO has been officially launched, offering MAVIA token holders the opportunity to make and vote on proposals.

The Mavia DAO lets anyone who owns at least 1 MAVIA token make a proposal on their Discord server. This must then go through several stages before it can become an official proposal and be put to a vote. It must be DAO-approved guidelines, undergo seven days of open discussion among Mavia DAO members, and pass a review by Mavia’s development, marketing, and legal departments.

Once the preliminary draft has passed all this, it will be put to the vote as an official MIP (Mavia Improvement Proposal). Voting takes fourteen days. And while I was writing this article, the very first community proposal, MIP#100, is now up for voting! You can Read the proposal and vote here. Voting is done with a wallet signature – no gas costs are required.

Proposals may add or modify game features, change the way Ecosystem Fund funds are allocated, propose process changes, and create partnerships or initiatives related to the DOA or the Mavia IP.

What is Heroes of Mavia?

Heroes of Mavia is a free-to-play, mobile, base-building RTS game built on the Ethereum blockchain. Players build and improve bases, and battle other players to earn RUBY, the game’s main currency. The game features upgradeable NFTs in the form of Bases, Heroes and Statues. Bases are the core part of the game and every player needs one to play. Heroes and statues are optional, but both offer significant benefits to your team. Heroes help your army with attack and defense, while Statues boost base production. Additionally, players can upgrade their NFTs by spending RUBY tokens.

The game also features gold and oil resources. These are in-game only and are used for certain basic upgrades. These resources are produced by bases and can be stolen from other players during raids.

Heroes of Mavia has incorporated rental mechanics into their game from the beginning. Base owners can choose to rent out their base to other players for passive income. This could be a fixed price rental system or a ‘partnership’. Partnerships function as a built-in grant system. The base owner lets the partner run and upgrade their base in exchange for a percentage of the RUBY income.
