Investor Dan Tapiero predicts wave of cryptocurrency IPOs and says Coinbase ‘can’t be possible’

Macro investor and fund manager Dan Tapiero believes a wave of crypto-related initial public offerings (IPOs) is coming soon.

In a new interview with Scott Melker, Tapiero say that the innovation underway with digital assets, along with the sector’s growth potential, is fueling more investment interest in so-called “public blockchain crypto companies.”

“I think we’re going to have a number of these IPOs in the next 18 months, or possibly I’m hearing now about maybe SPACs (special purpose acquisition companies) floating around out there, capital pools…

They now call them public blockchain crypto companies, even though I wouldn’t necessarily call Kraken a blockchain company…’

Tapiero believes that US crypto exchange Coinbase will one day be just one of many major crypto-related companies that people can invest in.

“I will tell you with 99% certainty that in five years, Coinbase will not be the only major public crypto company. It’s just not possible. And I think there’s a whole group of equity investors out there, and I know because I talk to them, who are… a little bit hungry for equity in this area.

They want to own the businesses they grow up with and build, and there isn’t much to own. You can own Coinbase. That’s great… But we’ll have some businesses.”
