A new hardware crypto wallet designed by the inventor of Apple’s iconic iPod is now shipping to consumers.

According to a new blog post from the France-based startup that produces the device, the Ledger Stax wallet is being created Delivered for those who pre-ordered it.

Says Ledger CEO Pascal Gauthier:

“[May 28th] marks a special day for Ledger. I’m excited to announce that our next-generation device, Ledger Stax, has begun shipping for pre-order customers. The first pre-orders will ship in the coming weeks, and new orders will be available worldwide in summer 2024. I will share further details at Bitcoin Nashville 2024 on July 26, so stay tuned.”

The device was first announced 18 months ago.

Gauthier emphasizes the unique features of the Stax ledger.

“It is the first secure touchscreen; the first time a touchscreen user interface is powered by a Secure Element chip, which is crucial for crypto security. It’s also the first curved E-Ink display ever built, the first display to use organic semiconductor materials on plastic substrates instead of silicon materials on glass, and the only display built at an angle of less than 100 degrees.

With our Ledger Live companion app, Ledger Stax is the most intuitive wallet for securing, owning and managing your digital value. Ledger Stax is also compatible with a wide range of apps that you can explore in the Discover section of Ledger Live. It’s a big step toward making digital property easily accessible to everyone, not just the tech-savvy.”
