STEPN, the move-to-earn platform that gamifies physical wellness, has partnered with global sports brand Adidas to launch generative, non-fungible token sneakers. The partnership also aims to revolutionize the lifestyle app ecosystem and drive global internet adoption3.

STEPN partners with Adidas to launch NFT sneakers

In an April 15 blog post, move-to-earn gaming platform STEPN confirmed the signing of a strategic partnership with global luxury sports brand Adidas. This groundbreaking partnership includes multiple activations designed to deliver a full experience to their communities.

Launched in July 2021, STEPN is a move-to-earn platform focused on motivating individuals to stay physically active. Since its inception, STEPN has gained immense popularity among crypto enthusiasts, and it now has over 5 million users. STEPN is considered one of the leading move-to-earn web3 applications.

Incentivizing exercise through rewards, the app requires users to purchase a virtual Sneaker NFT, pair their smartphones and earn rewards by walking, jogging or running. The M2E platform envisioned combining the $385 billion gaming industry with the $1.5 trillion wellness industry through several crypto innovations.

On the other hand, Adidas is another global leader in the sporting goods industry, which was founded on August 18, 1949. The luxury sports brand now employs more than 59,000 people around the world. In 2022, the sports brand Adidas had generated a turnover of €22.5 billion.

STEPN x Adidas sneaker NFT collection

Under the new partnership, STEPN and Adidas expect to combine their blockchain capabilities to launch a fixed supply of 1,000 generative NFT sneakers. The STEPN x Adidas Genesis sneakers feature the STEPN lightning bolt logo and the three stripes of Adidas. The NFT collection will be minted on the Solana blockchain network.

The STEPN x Adidas Genesis Sneakers collection will be sold via the MOOAR marketplace and retails for 10,000 in STEPN’s original GMT. While commenting on the new partnership, STEPN CEO Shiti Manghani noted:

“This collaboration between STEPN and Adidas underlines how powerful it is to be able to move and earn in both the virtual and real world at the same time. That such a physical and digital – or ‘phygital’ – partnership between the most widely used lifestyle app and a global brand like Adidas is now a reality shows the direction in which lifestyle rewards are heading.”

The new collaboration arrived just a few months after STEPN entered into a new partnership with digital artist Steve Aoki to build the AoK1Verse ecosystem. In August, adidas Originals teamed up with BAPE on a limited-edition sneaker collaboration paired with a digital double NFT release.
