However, what sets these NFTs apart is their ‘Soulbound’ nature, making them non-tradable once minted. This move allows owners to enjoy one-of-a-kind McDonald’s souvenirs that no one else can own. Not to mention, all collectibles promise to open “exclusive treats in the future”.

Quitting in McDonald’s Web3 attitude

Grimace NFTs are not the first time McDonald’s has joined blockchain-based initiatives. 2021, McDonald’s China launched 188 NFTs to celebrate the brand’s 31st anniversary in the Middle Kingdom. Riding on the success, the fast food chain similarly paid tribute to its popular McRib and Big Mac sandwiches through blockchain art soon after.

After a two-year hiatus, McDonald’s Hong Kong broadened the brand’s Web3 horizon even further by launching a Ethereum based game in The Sandbox in honor of Chicken McNugget’s 40th anniversary last month.

By handing out McDonald’s Grimace NFTs in Singapore, Macca’s demonstrates its commitment to keeping abreast of innovations and consumer preferences through more digital delights.
