Since the global media declared the “death of NFTs,” they’ve officially become cool enough for the serious art crowd. The latest evidence of this comes as the museum of Modern Art (MoMA) has unveiled its new ‘Postcards’ NFT project.
In an effort to get artists to experiment with NFT technology, MoMA has found a new way to spark dialogue and participation. As a result, the MoMA Postcards initiative was born, which invites artists to participate in a collaborative digital art project. Effectively utilize the lightning-fast Tezos blockchain to bring the project to life.
Essentially, a lead artist must come up with a theme and send a digital chain letter NFT to a contemporary. This selected individual must then create a small NFT stamp that reflects the theme previously outlined, before passing it on to the next artist. Once all 15 stamps are filled, MoMA will display all 15 miniature artworks as a unique NFT postcard.

MoMA starts its postcard collection in style
MoMA has announced that it will roll out its Postcards initiative far and wide later in October. To get the ball rolling, however, the company first enlisted fifteen prominent digital artists to create the first set of postcards. Each artist determined a theme, after which each of his fellow makers took turns submitting his own digital stamp. This esteemed group of early researchers includes Dmitri Cherniak, Kim Asendorf, IX Shells, and p1xelfool.
