The Origin and Magnetism of Moonbirds

The Moonbirds NFT Collection, led by tech entrepreneur Kevin Rose, launched on April 16, 2022. Rose – celebrated for his work with Digg and the Proof Collective – quickly noticed the demand for such collectibles, reaching 100,000 ETH in resales and gained ground in the NFT market.

Primarily out of goodwill, he initially distributed 2,000 digital pieces to PROOF members before making them publicly available. In addition, 7,875 units were allocated through a lottery to a predetermined list of participants, while the remaining 125 were reserved for future ventures and collaborations.

Illustrated by PROOF co-founder Justin Mezzell, Moonbirds’ pixel art charm is inspired by iconic initiatives such as CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Clubsimilarly to enhance the appeal and scarcity of the NFTs.

Since launch, the collectibles have presented more than pixel art and rarity, tune in with Spotify to create an NFT-gated music playlist, unveil rewards initiatives, and build a community hub, among other things.

Moonbirds continues to captivate the NFT market, with the collaboration between Yuga Labs and PROOF Collective heralding a significant leap forward in digital art innovation. Make sure you keep an eye out for these adorable pixel owls in the Other Side.
