Netflix offers up to $900,000 starting salary for AI-focused role
As actors and writers’ strikes continue over concerns about AI technology in the film industry, Netflix is recruiting people for AI-focused roles. The streaming giant has a job opening for a product manager focused on machine learning, with a salary ranging from $300,000 to $900,000. In addition, they are seeking a Generative AI Technical Director for their gaming studio, offering up to $650,000.

The job postings indicate that AI will be integrated throughout Netflix’s business, from content acquisition to personalized recommendations. The increasing adoption of AI technologies has been a major factor in the ongoing strike by actors. The actors’ union SAG-AFTRA has called the rise of AI an “existential threat” to actors.
ChatGPT app for Android has been released
OpenAI’s GPT-4 model, which powers the ChatGPT app, is now accessible to Android users through the Google Play Store. This is because many technology companies are deploying AI tools for mobile apps. Meanwhile, Google’s Bard AI exclusively uses a web interface. The launch raises questions about the ongoing hype surrounding AI chatbots and their future trajectory.

In February of this year, Meta announced its focus on generative AI, aimed at creating expressive and creative tools, including AI personas.
Today, Meta also introduced AudioCraft, a suite of generative AI models aimed at producing high-quality, realistic audio and music from text.
