The Bitcoin halving is just around the corner! And in honor of this event, Splinterlands launched two new promotional cards, available for a limited time only. Each promo card has the Halving ability, which is currently only available on two other cards in the entire Splinterlands collection!

Another halving of Bitcoin and another halving of the Splinterlands promo card. Actually two cards this time, Baron Fyatt and Henchling Enforcer. These cards are special promotional cards, only available during this event and never found in packs.

This Baron’s Bounty sale opened on April 16 and will only be available for 15 days. Purchases can be made with Credits or Dark Energy Crystals (Dark Energy Crystals are currently the cheaper option), at a cost of 31,250 per BCX for the Baron and 3,250 per BCX for the Enforcer ($32.50 and $3.25 USD respectively) Interested buyers can reduce this cost by up to 50% using vouchers. Each card purchase has a 4% chance of being Gold Foil, although players can guarantee at least one Gold Foil card by purchasing 25 cards at a time.

Plus, every promo card purchase earns points towards a lucky draw for rewards including discontinued card packs, land parcels, and Runi NFTs — over $100,000 in prizes! The top two hundred buyers will also receive special titles and the top twenty extra copies of the new promo cards.

look at the official store page for more information and to make purchases.

For those interested in the cards but not the lucky draw, these promo cards are available on the player-to-player markets at significantly lower prices.

Despite Splinterland’s recent revamp of their league and battle rewards system, they still seem to be bleeding players. But despite some grumbling from the player base, with the sale only a few days old, we’re already seeing over 2,500 Barons purchased.

And while this event may not attract new players, it’s always nice to see recognition for important moments like this in the web3 space.

What is Splinterland?

Splinterlands is a browser-based trading card game that runs on the Hive blockchain and offers a number of playing and earning features. Splinterlands contains two blockchain tokens. Dark Energy Crystals (DEC), the primary game currency, and Splintershards (SPS), a governance token that can also be converted into DEC.

Splinterlands is a cross between a deckbuilding game and an auto-battler. Players use their cards to create a battle lineup based on the rules of the match. Once both sides have submitted their teams, the cards will be displayed in auto-battle mode until only one team remains. Players earn Glint (an in-game currency) for winning matches and at the end of each two-week season. Glint can be used to purchase maps and other in-game items. The top 50 players in each season will also receive a payout of DEC tokens.

Splinterlands includes land ownership gameplay, allowing players to farm their land for grain, research points, and SPS tokens. In the future, the land gameplay will be expanded to allow players to create special game items.
