Every now and then a story comes on the news feed that is so wild and daring that it immediately makes you sit up and take notice. On this cryptic note, let’s dive into the intriguing story of Croatian pig farming and its handling of state-of-the-art NFT technology.
The story starts with three Croatian companies, a pig specialist in Agroporc and two blockchain entities, Past and Block Be. Together, this trio of agricultural innovators have joined forces to launch GoAgro, a digital platform that aims to transform the country’s agricultural sector.
In its innovative new approach, GoAgro has turned to the modest NFT to help fund its future agriculture initiatives. We are achieving this exciting feat by launching a collection of pork-themed NFTs that will deliver a 3% return on investment over time, as well as a guaranteed return of 100kg of pork after 900 days.
GoAgro brings NFTs to the Croatian agricultural sector
All in all, GoAgro plans to distribute a total of 240,000 “My Digital Pig” NFTs through its new virtual livestock initiative. The first 19999 is already priced at $225 and allows holders to “invest in the future of food production.” This means that the money raised within the program will be used to develop agriculture in Croatia, in an effort to reduce the country’s dependence on imported goods.
In addition to the NFT, GoAgro has launched a series of sustainability initiatives to help improve the efficiency of its product. As a result, all zero-waste farms are energy efficient and the pigs are raised according to GMO principles and produce 90% less CO2 emissions than traditional methods. Additionally, the innovative company has introduced webcams into its facilities so NFT holders can keep an eye on their pig investments in real time!
