MetalCore Closed Beta 2 is underway and with it comes the chance to earn Marks, which in turn will allow participants to claim a share of the MCG token from the upcoming token generation event!

It feels like every other news story in web3 gaming these days features a new token. And this one is no exception! MetalCore is launching Phase 2 of their closed beta, offering token rewards for players and those involved in the community.

This phase of the beta, officially called Mech Up, started on April 9, 2024 and will run until May 14, with a weeklong break from April 23 to 30 for some sort of super secret update!

If you don’t have a beta access key yet, you can sign up at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSejm2rrZNPPX2ked-8Hw-5qpHeaNJhuRlSHhPqCv9SJ67327w/viewform and check out MetalCore’s social channels for opportunities to sign up. Additionally, owners of MetalCore Infantry NFTs will automatically gain access to the beta.

This beta phase introduces playing to earn money, in the form of points. Beta participants can earn points by playing the game and completing missions. These markers can then be exchanged for MSG, the on-chain token for the MetalCore ecosystem.

But if you can’t participate in the beta, don’t worry! You still can earn points by participating in social quests on DeQuest. Many of these are the standard, follow, re-tweet and join style missions, although some also include in-game game achievements.

In addition, MetalCore is holding a migration campaign. They want everyone to move their MetalCore Infantry NFTs to the Immutable skEVM network. Your infantry NFTs are migrating will make them playable in the MetalCore game and also eligible for rewards in MCG token, claimable from the TGE. To qualify for the token bonus, you must migrate your Infantry MFT sometime between now and May 14, 2024, 3:00 PM PST.

MCG will function as a staking token and for minting items into NFTs. Players can also exchange MCG for Shards, an in-game currency used for virtually all in-game progress, as well as purchasing cosmetics and quality of life benefits such as fast travel and faster repairs.

We don’t have a specific release date for MCG, although the team hopes to launch it sometime soon after the end of Phase 2.

What is MetalCore?

Metal core is a web3-enabled game that is a cross between Planetside and Battlefield. It’s an FPS with a first-person/third-person sci-fi theme and tons of vehicles, infantry types and equipment. The game features faction battles, with some battles supporting up to 100 players per side! MetalCore includes vehicle and infantry combat, with a wide variety of combat styles and support options to choose from. Coordination with your teammates and faction members will be important.

During the faction battles, each side attempts to capture and control different tactical points on the map. Tactical points provide in-game advantages for the controlling faction. Each player has a limited number of respawns per battle. Once these respawns run out, that player is no longer allowed to play in that battle. But other players can take their place.

MetalCore includes both PvE and PvP zones. Players create vehicles and equipment in Garages and can upgrade and customize them with special skins and decals. MetalCore also supports Baronies or guilds.

MetalCore will feature free-to-play options. They are also implementing a Content Creator program with rewards for streamers and creators. The game is currently in beta testing.

MetalCore partnered with Immutable X earlier this year, so expect future integrations with Immutable Passport and the marketplace.
