April is just around the corner and the web3 gaming scene continues to evolve with planned releases, token generation events, big game changes and more! Read one to see a few games we want to watch in the month of April 2024!

Tokens, tokens, tokens! ‘Tis definitely the season for new gaming tokens. It seems that many game developers have been waiting for improvements in the market before releasing their tokens. But now the time has come! We’ve already had a number of token releases this year, including MAVIA, QORPO and BAWK. But there are many more coming soon, from MOCA to MOJO to NYAN, and more!

But it’s not just about tokens. There are also a number of upcoming releases, ongoing play-to-airdrop campaigns and more such excitement! Here are a few notable events this month that we’ll be keeping an eye on!

Splinterlands

Splinterlands recently made a big change to the way their competition system functions, and now they’re following that up with a revamp of the way prizes are generated (going live today, April 2)! Splinterlands, once one of the top dogs in web3 gaming, has lost a significant portion of its market share over the past year. These changes are part of their ongoing efforts to improve the experience of new players, while also making the game more attractive to their existing players.

Will these changes lead to an increase in player numbers for Splinterlands? We’ll see soon!

Mocaverse / Animoca brands

Animoca Brands has opened reservations for their upcoming token sale. MOCA, the most important token for Animoca Brands and, by extension, the Mocaverse. And the Mocaverse continues to grow rapidly, now offering half a dozen missions at any time that allow anyone with a Moca ID to earn Realm Points, which can be used for various giveaways. Current missions include partnerships with Nine Chronicles, Crypto.com, and Kucoin, to name a few.

While their NFT coin didn’t completely sell out a year ago, I would be surprised to see the same results with their MOCA token. Considering the extent of Animoca’s reach in web3 gaming, it feels like there are only good things ahead for everything they release!

Voxie tactics

A while ago, Voxie Tactics announced plans to move their game to Unity.

The go-live is scheduled for April 29, the relaunch also includes a new website, a celebratory launch stream and updates to their social branding. In April, the Voxie Tactics team will release more information about the upcoming changes, hold a sneak-peek livestream, and increase their social media presence with marketing announcements, trailers, and good stuff like that. The Voxie Tactics teams are excited about the new release. This will not only improve the graphics and sound quality, but it will also make it easier for them to develop further.

Following this announcement, Voxie Tactics has already set new records regarding daily active users. With an updated client and changes to their game economy, Voxie Tactics hopes to bring in more players and grow their turn-based, fantasy, strategy game into an enduring fixture in the web3 gaming scene!

Illuvium

Illuvium plans to reach the open beta milestone this year, possibly sometime this summer. But before then, there will be a private beta in May, with signups open in the last two weeks of April. This upcoming beta will include the full gameplay loop.

And while the previous releases of Illuvium Overworld looked nice and were very playable, the playerbase wasn’t overly enthusiastic about the gameplay. This new beta is not only an update to the Overworld game, but it also brings together all three Illuvium apps and includes the integration of the Immutable Passport, asset creation, trading on the Illuvidex, and more!
