Coming off their Ora NFT coin, Sugartown is ramping things up by introducing staking this week and opening up the first game on their platform to eligible players!
Sugartown, the web3 gaming platform built by Zynga, is wasting no time. With their first NFT coin recently completed, they are already opening a staking program and holding their first play-to-earn event on their gaming platform! And this is all about the Orasthe unrevealed founder-level NFTs recently released by Sugartown.
Staking and the NGMI Alpha event
The first game preview will take place this weekend, from September 29 to October 2. This is known as the NGMI Alpha Event and is not open to every Ora holder. To participate, you must also have the LVL4 or Supercharge role on Discord, or win one of the 50 raffle spots (details not yet announced).
Players must also spend their Oras to earn energy to play the NGMI Alpha. Other than that, we have no information at all about this game, other than that there will be prizes for the top eight players, and additional rewards will be raffled off to everyone who participated.
Sugartown encourages all Ora holders to wager even if they do not plan to participate in this first event. Those who stake their Oras for seven days can earn Lifebound Tokens, or LBTs. The Sugartown team will take a snapshot on October 9, 2023 at 9am PT. Anyone who has used their Ora for at least seven days on the day of the snapshot earns an LBT. However, unlike other Soulbound tokens, LBTs are not intended to track player progress. Instead, they are special, non-tradable tokens that can be exchanged for rewards and prizes? What kind of rewards and prizes? We don’t know yet!
The strike will begin on Wednesday, September 27 at 9am PST. Interestingly enough, the Oras haven’t even been revealed yet. We don’t have a date for their emergence, but rumors say it will be sometime in October, long after the betting feature opens!
Sugartown has more planned in the coming weeks. And with their already quick start to getting their gaming ecosystem out there, I’d expect to hear a lot more from them as they ramp things up!
What is Sugartown?
Sugartown is a new web3 gaming platform being built by ZW3, Zynga’s web3 gaming division. This platform will be the central location for ZW3-made games, but it seems they want to encourage user-generated content as well. Whether that includes the development of the entire game stack, or just mods and adjustments for the Zynga games, is still unknown.
Sugartown lore revolves around a group of farm animals who accidentally opened a multi-dimensional portal. As part of this event, Oras appeared. Ora’s are the first NFT collection for Sugartown and include special benefits for those who own and stake them.
