The Sandbox is keeping things moving with an update to their Gamemaker client and the introduction of Catalyst NFTs, which allow owners to mint items with varying rarities and statistical bonuses, ushering in a new era of collectibles in The Sandbox universe! The first Catalysts airdrop is scheduled for December 14!
Fresh off the opening of publishing experiences to all landowners, The Sandbox adds more tools to the farming arsenal with an update to Gamemaker and the introduction of Catalysts, which let you mint items with individual stat bonuses!
The Gamemaker update includes all kinds of goodies for experience creators. This includes the ability to define game rules, increased multiplayer support, the ability to add power-ups to the game, new travel options, improved equipment interactions, the ability to enter areas based on NFT ownership, and more! In fact, they often have a number of pre-built templates for those who want to quickly get started creating their own gaming experience.

What are catalysts?
Catalysts are an ERC-1155 token, so holders can trade them freely on external markets. Catalysts are a substitute for gemstones. Players can use Catalysts to earn assets. The level of Catalyst used determines the rarity of the minted asset. If the item is marked as equipment, the owner also receives points to distribute across the item’s attributes! This ranges from four points for a legendary item to zero points for a common item. The asset manager can choose to divide attribute points between Strength, Defense and Speed.
On December 14, The Sandbox will send Catalysts to all landowners. Distribution based on a snapshot taken on December 11.
Furthermore, any landowner who has the Season’s Greetings Event can earn Catalysts. This event runs until January 22 and is open to everyone. In addition to the Catalyst prizes for landowners, there is also 600k SAND across three pools available for anyone who can earn 200 points in this event before it ends. And like all major events in The Sandbox, you’ll need to complete a KYC process to claim the rewards.
