The Sandbox Land Owner Roadmap update

User Avatar

While The Sandbox hasn’t been shy about selling land, there isn’t really much news for landowners. That could all change in the coming months as The Sandbox unveils a new landowner roadmap that includes neighborhood information, increased land sales, and a land upgrade system!

Wake up owners of The Sandbox land! We have a new ‘Q2 2023’ (did someone forget to update the banner image?) Land Owner Roadmap from The Sandbox!

The main feature of the roadmap is the plan to open experience publishing to all landowners later this year. We’ve already seen some cool stuff from third-party developers of the recent application-based publishing system. But making it accessible to everyone should be very interesting! And luckily, The Sandbox has added a search function that will help you find specific country experiences to join!

And apart from the secondary markets, The Sandbox still has regular sales, filling in the empty areas on the map. This year they have already sold 2,000 lots, with plans for several thousand more before the end of the year!

What else is on the roadmap?

Public publications are not the only thing landowners should be interested in. Premium landowners, in particular, should be happy to hear that The Sandbox plans to raise awareness of these lots, give their NFTs special tags, and make them more noticeable on the map. .

In addition, The Sandbox has started creating neighborhoods in their virtual universe, areas where similar projects can be grouped together. Furthermore, neighborhoods have no meaning for the time being. At one point, The Sandbox talked about connecting adjacent lots in some way, but I don’t know if that concept is still in the works or not. The Sandbox team does talk about plans to include neighborhood-specific activities in the near future.

Another interesting part of this roadmap includes a buyback program from The Sandbox to periodically purchase lots for resale on the secondary markets. These repurchased lots are then loaned to makers who want to build, but don’t have the resources to acquire their own plot of land. Pretty cool!

They also teased a “level up” system for the country. We don’t yet know what this means exactly and how it works. But it will somehow involve the Catalyst system. Catalysts are items that can be used to give some sort of bonus to NFT items. This is the first time we hear of it being used or of plots.

Exclusive NFT pricing should also be available soon for landowners holding their land for more than 90 days.

Closing thoughts

It’s great to see this momentum from The Sandbox. For a while I felt that not much progress had been made, apart from an endless series of land sales. But now, in addition to The Sandbox’s regular official events, we have third-party developers releasing their own games to gain experience, with the promise of an even wider opening of the publishing system later this year. With neighborhood events, airdrops for landowners, and hopefully our first taste of the Catalyst System, things are getting exciting again in The Sandbox!
