The Wanderers closed beta starts on May 3

User Avatar

The first closed beta for Wanderers opens on May 3. This beta playtest is only accessible to accounts with RAM cards. Holders will have the opportunity to dive into this action-packed, sci-fi dungeon adventure and attempt to defeat the menacing Dark Entity! Maybe even with rewards for doing so!

Known as First Jump, this playtest is the first closed beta for Wanderers and is only open to RAM bundle holders.

The playtest runs from Friday, May 3 at 12:00 PM ET to Tuesday, May 7 at 12:00 PM ET. Players are tasked with finding and defeating the Dark Entity. Presumably there will be some rewards, but what they are and how they will be handed out has not been revealed. Although they do encourage you to try and defeat the Dark Entity as quickly as possible. So it looks like there will be some sort of ranking involved.

To participate in this closed beta, you will need to burn a RAM Beta Bundle NFT. If you don’t have one yet, they are available on Open Sea for just under $100. Once you have your bundle, go to https://codex.wanderers.ai/firstjump to redeem it and receive your access code. Enter the access code at Epic games and you are ready to download the game!

However, RAM bundles offer more than just access codes. They also contain packs of RAM cards. RAM cards are memory chips, allowing players to use the skills of heroes from the past. For now, RAMs are account-specific. But in the future, players will be able to mine and trade their RAM cards.

RAM bundles also include referral codes for you to invite your friends. Although this feature is locked for the First Jump playtest. Only RAM holders are allowed to play.

RAM chips provide players with a deckbuilding/customization option, allowing them to continually tweak their character setup to find their favorite builds for dungeon running.

Inserting RAM cards before a run

What is Wanderers?

Wanderers is a free-to-play, top-down, action-based, roguelite, sci-fi shooter. Players go through wormholes to hostile planets, defeat enemies, find loot, and then do it again. Aside from the randomness of dungeon generation, Wanderers also offers players plenty of options to customize their play sessions.

Players do this by assembling a deck of RAM cards, each representing a new ability or power-up. During a run, players can find RAM terminals where they can access a random selection of RAMs, including those from their deck and others based on the dungeon they are using. Adding multiple copies of the same RAM to your deck will increase your chances of accessing that specific RAM on the terminals.

Wanderers has received investment support from Animoca Brands.
