Upland recently released a document outlining their development plans for Q3 2023. And it’s quite a jam-packed roadmap! And since we’re already on a third of Q3, let’s take a look at their plans and what features have already been implemented!
Upland is expanding rapidly. And I’m not just talking about adding new cities to their game map. They’ve already added plot customization, store ownership, player-created content, social hubs, and more! In fact, Upland seems to be quietly expanding their scope into a metaverse style experience. Their plans for Q3 include more growth, more customization, and more player ownership opportunities!
What’s new in Upland for Q3?
For starters, Upland wants to expand the concept of Metaventures. Initially just storefronts that allow owners to create and monetize NFTs, Upland recently added the ability for Metaverse owners to create custom racetracks. And if there’s race betting (another planned Q3 feature), race track creators can earn income when their track is used in a race.
And this is just a first step toward expanding Metaventures and user-created content. In fact, player-generated content is a big focus of the roadmap. Upland wants to streamline their approval process, making it easier for creators to get their content into the game.
They also plan to expand their cafes, 3D, avatar-based social hubs. They are exploring ways to enable cafe owners to monetize these social hubs. In the meantime, expect more game gatherings and activities around the cafes, including proximity text and voice chat! The Upland team even held a recent AMA on the roadmap in one of the in-game cafes!
Other Q3 plans include expansion of missions, particularly to help new players understand all game options and mechanics, increased car usage, including the ability to make more choices while racing, and the ability to use cars for transportation around and between cities , and more Legits , such as collectibles from the FIFA Women’s World Cup (already available) and the NFLPA.
Upland also plans to expand their cross-chain functionality, enabling transfers for more of their NFT collections to the Ethereum network.
Another Q3 roadmap already implemented is passive income for terminal owners. Terminal owners now receive 20% of the cost spent on tickets in the city, and can also apply to run a Metaventure from their Terminal lot.

What is Highland?
Upland is a free-to-play real estate trading and city building game where players can explore cities, collect properties and meet other players. The play-to-earn game is available on Android, iOS and the web.
Each player in Upland is given a status determined by their net worth based on real estate and token holdings. The different ranks are Visitor, Uplander, Director, Executive, Pro and Chief Executive. When a user joins the game for the first time, they are given Visitor status. And while players can buy properties from the start, they can’t sell them until they reach Uplander status.
The official currency in Upland is UPX. However, this is only an in-game currency and cannot be traded between players.
Players earn passive UPX by owning properties. They also receive income when another player “sends” themselves to an owned property. In addition, players can complete in-game collections by owning specific properties (for example, five properties in the same city). These offer a one-time UPX payout and then a passive boost to UPX earning for as long as you keep that collection. Players can also purchase UPX tokens directly from Upland.
Upland has expanded greatly over time and now includes more than a dozen towns. They also introduced plot customization. Players can build buildings and decorate their properties in different ways. Players can also own shops and sell their own custom Block Explorers!
