Web3 action shooter title Shutdown, backed by Morningstar Ventures, has seen its first NFT release – titled the Mongrel Collection – ahead of their upcoming token launch.

There were 1,750 free-to-mint NFTs available, and all were distributed, with more than 1,000 Mongrel NFTs claimed through guaranteed spots on OpenSea.

Shutdown’s $FUSE token will launch later in 2024.

Shutdown is a cross-platform isometric shooter title. Developed by an experienced team of ex-Disney, Pixar and Ubisoft staff, the action-packed game is built in Unreal Engine 5, with a focus on creating and maintaining a sustainable, player-driven economy.

Holders of Shutdown’s Mongrel Collection NFTs will receive a range of benefits, including an airdrop of $FUSE tokens once they go live, access to exclusive in-game upgrades, and better PvP and PvE rewards.

Shutdown entered open beta earlier this year and attracted more than 4,000 weekly active players over a four-week tournament. The aim is for Shutdown to be available on iOS and Android via the App Store and Google Play Store later this year.

What’s Next for Shutdown?

The success of Shutdown’s inaugural NFT coin is even more impressive given current market conditions, with NFT trading down about 7% on a week-to-week basis last Friday, according to reports.

On the other hand, the situation for cryptocurrency and tokens is looking much brighter, with Bitcoin and Ethereum surpassing their all-time highs as many coins reached peak trading volumes in June – encouraging conditions for the upcoming launch of $FUSE tokens.

“Shutdown aims to host cross-play capabilities between mobile and PC with a data-driven approach that can seamlessly integrate a 4×4 economic system,” said Houston Song, founder and CEO of Shutdown.

“We’re introducing new content, maps, features and customizations to the game every day – and the NFT sale is a testament to player adoption and another step in the right direction.”
