Yuga Labs is launching its SPW NFT Airdrop this week
In a May 28 blog post, Yuga Labs confirmed plans to launch its controversial non-fungible token airdrop for the superpunk world this weekend on May 30. The digital asset company was set to launch its NFT airdrop last week, but postponed the event after heavy community backlash.
The Super Punk World airdrop will take place on Thursday, May 30. This is only available for @ninakanaal Super Cool World holders.
500 random wallets with at least one SCW NFT will be selected via on-chain randomization.

Last week, Yuga Labs teamed up with Nina Chanel Abney, the digital artist behind the Super Cool World non-fungible token collection, to launch an airdrop to holders. Nina Chanel’s Super Cool World is an NFT collection with a limited supply of 5,080 NFTs, consisting of hundreds of properties that reflect her frenetic, collage-like approach to visual media.
Under this integration, Yuga Labs and Nina Chanel expected to leverage the Super Punk World NFT project to combine the avant-garde NFT sector with classical art. Nine Abney, known for her hilarious artwork with Pharrell Williams’ Gallery of Digital Assets (GODA) and South Park animations, wanted to provide CryptoPunks with her creative vision.
Unfortunately, Nina Abney’s “woke” artworks were quickly criticized, prompting Yuga Labs to halt progress on the collection. The crypto and NFT community on X (formerly Twitter) questioned the artistry, conceptual orientation, and perspectives on social issues related to racial and gender discourses.

In its recent press release, Yuga Labs announced that the controversial non-fungible token airdrop would take place this week, believing that the initial community backlash has subsided. The Super Punk World NFT airdrop will take place on Thursday, May 30.

The now highly anticipated airdrop will only be available to Super Cool World NFT holders. Yuga Labs will airdrop 500 random wallets with at least one SCW NFT. Yuga Labs selects lucky collectors via randomization in the chain. Yuga Labs remains committed to the integrity of the CryptoPunks brand.
